Have you thought about doing business with the state on a Statewide Contract?

Over the next few weeks, the Commonwealth of Massachusetts intends to post opportunities to get on our Trades Statewide Contracts. These contracts provide a variety of Trades services to state agencies, Massachusetts cities and towns, public schools, housing authorities, and many others.

The following Trades contracts are reopening in May 2024 to add additional vendors:

  • TRD03 - Elevator; Exhaust; Fire Detection; Fire Suppression; Overhead Doors; Signage; and Welding Services

The following Trades Contracts will reopen in late summer/early fall 2024 to add additional vendors:

  • TRD02 - Asphalt Paving; Carpentry; Excavation; Masonry; and Septic Services
  • TRD04 - Cleaning/Restoration; Compressor; Kitchen Exhaust; Pump and Motor; Roofing Services and Biohazardous Cite Cleaning Services

If your business provides any of these services, we encourage you to explore these opportunities to get on contract.

Next Steps

There are three actions you need to take to express interest in a Statewide Contract bid:

  • Step 1: Get Registered!
You must be registered in COMMBUYS, the state's purchasing and procurement system, to respond to a Statewide Contract bid and, if awarded, transact business with the Commonwealth. It takes about 5-10 minutes to
get registered and it's free. Have your Tax ID number on hand.

You must select at least one commodity code when you register in COMMBUYS to identify the products and services provided by your business. We encourage you to review the commodity codes on our
Trades flyer and add commodity codes that align with your business. You also may select other commodity codes during the registration process to receive opportunity notices in those categories.

Already registered? Use this job aid to update your profile to include one or more of the Trades commodity codes to ensure you are notified through COMMBUYS.

  • Step 2: Review the Bid Opportunity
The Commonwealth intends to post the TRD01 and TRD03 bids in COMMBUYS over the next few weeks. Once posted, navigate to the bid in COMMBUYS: At the top of the page in
COMMBUYS, enter the last five digits of the bid number in the Search box (bid numbers posted below) and click the magnifying glass icon. Read and digest the Request for Response (RFR) documents.

  • Step 3: Submit a Quote
Once you have read the RFR and collected the required information, log in to COMMBUYS to submit your quote. To be considered, responses must be submitted in COMMBUYS by the bid opening date/time published in the RFR documents.
